Dorothy Marion Vik, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at New Perspectives in
Superior, WI. She was born the daughter of Nels and Aldina (Pearson) Roos on July 6, 1933 in Cloverland, WI. Dorothy gave her heart to Jesus at a very young age, and like her husband, had a deep life-long faith in Jesus Christ as her forgiver and Savior! She was a faithful and committed member of whatever church her husband Hans was the pastor of at the time, and most fondly of Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, Wisconsin after retirement. Mission Covenant and Poplar were her favorite places to live and serve. She was ready to enter into her eternal home with Jesus and be reunited with her husband and loved ones! We know we will see them both again someday! 1 Peter 1:3-7 Dorothy graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin. She headed out to Billings, Montana sometime after high school, where a mutual friend decided Hans needed a wife if he was gonna be a pastor, and Dorothy would make him a good one! I guess the rest is history! She married Hans Vik on June 26, 1964 at the little Cloverland Covenant Church in Cloverland, Wisconsin. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together before his passing on December 29, 2024. Dorothy was a faithful Pastor's wife for over 36 years of full time ministry. She played the piano, sang innumerable special numbers, accompanied Hans on many visitations, hosted bible studies etc. in their home, and loved having people over for dinner! She was a homemaker who loved to bake and take care of her home, and enjoyed caring for her family. She was known for her outstanding caramel rolls and Christmas cookies! The downside to being such a good cook all those years was putting up with not as good cooking after she was unable to do it! I wish we would have kept track of the boatload of puzzles she did, especially these past 6 years at New Perspectives. She was known as the puzzle queen there. Almost every day, morning and afternoon, she would be found at her puzzle table on the second floor working diligently on the latest scene given her by any number of wonderful friends and family. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, August 30, at Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, and continue until the memorial service at 1:00 pm with Pastor James Walsh officiating. There will be a time for more visiting over coffee and cookies following the service. Committal and internment will be at the Poplar cemetery. Dorothy is survived by her son, Carey (Jennifer) Vik, daughter, Janelle Basley, grand children, Josiah (Tori) Vik, Laryssa (Jake) Needham, Cora Rose Gaskell, several nieces and nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Hans Vik, her parents Nels and Aldina Roos, sister Ruby (Jim) Conner, brother Vernon (Delores) Roos, and brother Dorwin (Lois) Roos. Special thanks must be given to those who loved and helped her so well, especially the past months after losing Hans. Janis Lepasti is an angel from God in the form of one of Dorothy's best friends in life! We cannot express enough our family's gratitude to you Janis! Dorothy also had a very dear angel friend at New Perspectives named Kathy Meierotto who loved and served her whenever she was ill or in need! We are also very grateful for the wonderful staff at New Perspectives who took care of both Hans and Dorothy! Some of you became like family to mom! She loved you very much! There are so many others who helped and visited, sent cards and flowers, and prayed for her on a regular basis. Because we could never get them all, we will mention no more. But God knows and there will be a Dorothy star on your report card someday! Thank you all for loving Mom the way you did! The Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
