Dorothy Washington Obituary
Ms. Dorothy Marie Washington was born April 15, 1969, to Bernice Smith Washington and the late Joseph Samuel Washington of Philadelphia, PA. Dorothy departed this life on October 13, 2025, at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta.
Dorothy was educated in the public schools of Emanuel County and Atlanta. She graduated from Carver High School in Atlanta. She was a graduate of Walden University where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in leadership. Dorothy loved listening to music and writing poems and she loved animals.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Niko Gates of Swainsboro; mother, Bernice Smith Washington of Swainsboro; sisters, Brenda Washington, Sharetha Washington, Chanee Washington; brother, Joseph Washington (Rita) of Riverdale; great-nephew, Tushae of Swainsboro; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A private homegoing celebration will be held at a later date.
