Dorothy Susan Witte, aka 'Nana' age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 17, 2025, which coincidentally was her son's birthday who preceded her in death. She was born on February 2, 1942, to Robert and Anna Irene (Jancewicz) Alexander.
Dorothy, also known to many as 'Nana', lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and boundless love for her family and friends. Her work ethic and caring nature were evident in everything she did. Over the years she was employed by Misco, Meijer Cleaners, and later the Fruitport Senior Center.
A longtime member of the NRA, Dorothy valued tradition, independence, and friendship. She cherished her time spent with her 'special friends' at the Round Table sharing coffee, laughter, and memories. She also had a lifelong passion for sewing and crafting beautiful pieces that reflect her creativity and warmth. She spent her summers, with friends, at Chinook Campground for over 20 years and was so proud to show off her first tattoo at the age of 80.
Dorothy will be remembered by her unwavering kindness, her amazing humor, and the love she poured into every part of her life. Her legacy will live on through the generations of family who adored her and the many lives she touched.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Anna Irene Alexander, husband Edwin Witte, oldest son, David Witte, son-in-law, Michael Hill, grandson Anthony Cardinal, sister Roberta Follrath and brother Robert Michael Alexander.
She is survived by daughter, Dicksie (Paul) Jordan, daughter Gerri (Craig) Garber, son Robert (Shirley) Witte, and daughter-in-law Kerry Witte. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Amber (Brian) Lawrence, Brent Hill (Lynzie), Michael (Amanda) Jordan, Christopher (Taylor) Jordan, Raychel Garber (Andrew), Bill Thoma, Jesse Thoma (Kendall), Jayna Stone (Chandler), Anna (Zach) Santose, Zack Garber, Nicole (Jaime) Ayala, Kyle (Toni) Witte, Kraig (Marissa) Witte, Katy (Abby) Witte and 26 great grandchildren all of which brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life.
