Dorris “June” Nicoll, 96, of Woodstock, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. Born on June 12, 1929, in Marlow, Georgia, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, service, and a deep appreciation for nature and literature.
June began her career with New York Life in Georgia during her early years. Her life took a new direction when she married Andrew M. Nicoll II, an officer in the United States Air Force. She was immensely proud of her role as a military spouse and was herself honored with a commendation in recognition of her contributions. Together, they shared a life of dedication and service.
In her later years, June found joy and purpose through her involvement with the Lincoln Public Library. A lifelong reader and passionate supporter of public libraries, she was also a devoted patron of the Moosilaukee Public Library. Her love for books was matched only by her love for the outdoors—she spent countless hours tending her gardens and was an active member of hiking and snowshoeing clubs in earlier years. Additionally, she was an Emeritus Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter No. 269, Garden City, Georgia, for over 47 years.
June cherished time spent with family above all else. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Andrew M. Nicoll III, and his wife, Sally (Boyle); grandchildren, Kelty Nicoll, Kinsley Nicoll Turchon (Eric), and Kealand Nicoll; and a very special niece, Janet Brogdon Superchi (Bo), along with their son, Zach. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew M. Nicoll II; her parents, William B. Seckinger and Dahlia (Futch) Seckinger Rahn; sisters, Dorothy Brogdon and Jewel Davis; sister-in-law, Jean (Nicoll) Holbrook Schaller; brother-in-law, Wayne B. Nicoll, and his wife, Sally; as well as niece, Katy Holbrook Lucey, and nephew, Steve Holbrook, who both were so good to her.
June found great happiness in life’s simple pleasures—spending summers at camp in Warren, NH, and vacationing in Maine with her sister-in-law Jean; preparing meals (especially chocolate desserts) for family gatherings; or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of her garden. Her warmth extended beyond family to those who cared for her later in life. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Lincoln-Woodstock Meals on Wheels for their exceptional kindness and care.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A burial will be held on August 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303.
