Douglas Eugene York, age 83, of Evansville, IN passed away, December 26, 2025 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born August 22, 1942 in Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Arve and Mary (Allison) York.
Doug proudly served in "Battery B" of the Indiana National Guard. He worked for Farm Bureau before dedicating 32 years as an electrician to GE Plastics, retiring in 2001. In 2002, owned and operated, A Perfect Break Vending Company. Doug was active in Beulah Masonic Lodge #578, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, Elks Lodge #277, American Legion Post #5, Riverbend, and the Owls. He coached girls' softball for many years and brought joy to countless children as Santa Claus at the Elks for more than two decades. Doug enjoyed boating and fishing in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dani York; brothers, Charles "Chick", Herman, Paul and John York; sisters, Ruth Reynolds, Mary Rose Moore and Margaret Russell; and his granddaughter, Navi Ford.
He is survived by his daughters, Leah Reagan (Jeff) and Joni Mayhan; grandchildren, Laura Fiste (Nick), Trevor Mayhan (Madison), Olivia, Avery and Lily Vantlin; brother, Arvill Lee York; sister-in-law, Agnes York; brother-in-law, Tom Moore; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Terry Gamblin officiating. Military Rites provided by American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard following the funeral service.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Masonic Lodge, 1131 W. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or Shriners Children's, Attn: Shriners Children's Processing Center, P.O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
