Douglas Andrew Bixler, 64, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Born in Canton on June 14, 1961, he was the son of Bruce and Elizabeth Bixler.
Doug grew up in a close-knit family, graduated from Louisville High School, and earned his bachelor's degree from Kent State University. For more than 35 years, he owned and operated Bixler Painting, appreciating the trust his customers placed in him.
He was an active member of First Christian Church and found strength and friendship through Rock Steady Boxing in Canton. With determination and courage he faced Parkinson's disease with the support and courage of this community.
Above all, Doug was a devoted father to his son, Andrew. His love, patience, and steadfast care for Andrew were at the center of his life. He took great joy in the life they shared together.
Doug is survived by his beloved son, Andrew Bixler; his sisters, Susan Bixler and Joanne Bixler (Ben Clifton); his aunt and uncle, Jack and Fran Rees; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Elizabeth Bixler, and his brothers, Bruce Bixler Jr. (Gardi Taylor) and Stephen Bixler (Jeannie Samblanet)
A celebration of Doug's life will be held in 2026. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the American Heart Association.
