I was unbelievably upset when I heard the news about Doug. While we haven´t spent a lot of time together more recently, mostly because life things got in the way, there were times over the years that we did spend together that I will not forget. Mostly around holidays both in Bayonne and New Hampshire. We would drive to The Boardman home in New Hampshire for several years in a row, with my in-laws and family and from the minute we got there till the time we left we laughed and laughed. It is certain that there are several experiences I will never forget, some about sports, some about family, some about life. While we can´t get to experience these things again, I will never forget them. Will miss you, my friend.

Dare Bernadette,
I only met Doug a couple of times a long time ago, but I was impressed at what a truly lovely man he was. I am so very sorry for your loss and have been thinking about you since.
Wishing you a little bit of comfort eventually, with all the memories and all the love that he gave you. Marie Norris

I´ll never forget my sister telling us about this man Doug she met at the grocery store they both would work at. Bernadette was always somewhat of a surprise person, so this was a surprise. Turned out this surprise was true love and they married. Me and my sisters travelled that winter day for the wedding and sang their blessings. Doug was definitely a true match for Bernie. He was definitely her calm during hectic times. I remember a Thanksgiving when the girls were out shopping and the guys were home in New Hampshire watching the games and getting hungry. They tried to make turkey sandwiches but Doug cautioned that Bernie would know if the leftovers were touched. They ate anyway. He could take it. I have to say that I have never seen two people who complimented each other, adored each other, cared for each other, and would do anything for each other, than Doug and Bernie. Doug is the person I´m so glad and honored to have as a brother in law, even if I never told him that. I´ll miss you more than you know.

My uncle was a true example of patience personified. Whether it be a drive around Lakeland talking about the birds, a chat about the Boston Red Sox, or a trip to the Strawberry Festival for a sweet treat, we never shared an unpleasant moment. His gentle presence will be missed, but I know every time I hear a Boston accent or pass a scenic golf course he´ll be right there with me.
