Douglas H. Bowers, Jr., known as Buddy, passed away peacefully in his home on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his family in Purvis, MS. Buddy was known for his love for his children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. You would also find Buddy in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Buddy was born in Mobile, AL, to Douglas H. Bowers and Betty Gwendolyn Campbell Bowers (Taylor). He had a career as a lineman with the South Mississippi Electric Power Association and later had a successful career in residential construction and remodeling.

Buddy is survived by his children, Shelli Benton of Hernando, MS, Tiffany Terrell (Shelton) of Purvis, MS, and "Bear" Douglas H. Bowers (Ashley) of Purvis, MS, and his grandchildren, Garrett, Faith, Mary, Madison, Shelton, Rayne, and Ember. Buddy is also survived by a large family of siblings, Vanessa Hilton, Gloria McLendon, Steven Bowers (Gail), Karla Stover (Quincy), Guy Bowers (Cindy), George Taylor, Jr., Missy Taylor Ready, and Tracey Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas H. Bowers, Betty Gwendolyn Taylor, and George Taylor (step-father).

A celebration of life service will be held on March 13, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church, 712 Corinth Road, Purvis, MS. A potluck meal will be served at the church after the service.
