Douglas John Broek, age 76, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Meyers) Broek; parents John and Marie Broek; brother, Steve Broek. He will be remembered by his siblings Helen (Broek) Cyr, Paul Broek; mother-in-law, Mary Meyers; sisters-in-law Jane Meyers, Dawn Meyers, and Nina Broek; brother-in-law, Roger (Julie) Meyers; nieces and nephews Jonathan (Tessa) Broek, Steven Broek, Brian (Caitlin) Broek, Aimee (Ryan) Postema; and many great-nieces, -nephews and friends.
Doug was born and raised in Muskegon, MI. He spent four years in the Air Force. He worked as an accountant at Meijer and retired from the Meijer inventory crew. Doug was a member of local VFW Post 702. He was past Commander of VFW Post 702 and District 8 VFW Department of Michigan.
Doug and his wife, Joan, enjoyed traveling to areas with beautiful beaches.
A special thanks to Grand Village Assisted Living and Memory Care for making Doug feel at home in this caring community.
A celebration of Doug's life will commence 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior, at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. In honor of Doug and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grand Village Assisted Living and Memory Care or CorsoCare Hospice. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guest book online.
