Douglas Lee Cutshall, a beloved pillar of the Tishomingo County community, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 20, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 29, 1935, in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, Doug dedicated his life to his family, work, and community service, leaving behind a legacy admired by many.

Following his high school graduation, Doug ventured to Florida, where he worked in sawmills alongside his family. His remarkable journey continued as he took on the role of manager for citrus groves in the region. He later returned to Mississippi, where he accepted a position as a supervisor at Ingalls Shipyard, contributing to the construction of the first atomic submarine. In 1968, Doug returned to Tishomingo County to work in the sawmills with his father and uncles, culminating in the establishment of D.L. Cutshall and Sons Logging Company in 1971, which became a significant enterprise in the area.

Throughout his distinguished career, Doug was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the logging industry, receiving accolades such as Logger of the Year from the Mississippi Logger Association, the Mississippi Forestry Association, and the South Central US Forest Resources Association. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his dedication to his hobbies, which included an enduring passion for bluegrass music, especially bluegrass gospel; restoring old automobiles and tractors; and tending to his yard.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Doug was deeply committed to his community and faith. A member of Iuka Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was involved with Gideons International, where he held the position of longtime chaplain for the Tishomingo Camp. His memberships extended to several forestry associations and the Wheels of Northeast Mississippi Car Club, reflecting his diverse interests and unwavering community spirit.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Irene Rutledge Cutshall; his daughter, Diane Cutshall Boyd (Durann); his sons, Stephen Cutshall (Gail), Jonathan Cutshall (Cara), and Jason Cutshall (Kelly); his sisters, Linda Storie and Nelda Jones; and his brother, Jeff Cutshall. He also leaves behind a proud lineage of grandchildren: Douglas Boyd (Hannah), Amanda C. Stowell (Wayne), Tate Cutshall (Ashley), Abby C. Miller (Rocky), Nathan Cutshall, Caden Cutshall, Jacob Cutshall, Jared Cutshall, and Noah Cutshall, as well as great-grandchildren Luke Boyd, Jack Boyd, Millie Stowell, Ashton Stowell, Sawyer Cutshall, and Wallace Miller. He is remembered fondly by a special double first cousin, Perry Cutshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Lee "Tidy" Cutshall and Bonnie Gray Cutshall, whose guidance and love undoubtedly shaped the remarkable man he became.
