Douglas Faulk Obituary
Douglas E. Faulk, Sr., age 79, of Wilmington, North Carolina, entered peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 23, 2025. Having fought a courageous fight and finished his race with faith and strength, he is now completely healed and whole in the presence of Jesus.
Born on June 26, 1946, in Marion, South Carolina, Doug lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and to the Lord.
Doug was an active member of the Church of God for more than 50 years. Throughout those decades, he faithfully served as head usher, church council member, finance committee member, and in many additional roles. His dedication to the house of God and his commitment to serving others were central to his life.
For the past ten years, Doug was a beloved part of Kingdom Impact Wilmington, where he served diligently on the finance team and as an usher. He supported his son's ministry with joy and humility, living out his faith in a way that impacted countless lives.
In 1964, Doug married the love of his life, Dianne Smithey, and together they shared 61 years of a faithful, Christ-centered marriage. Their life together was a testimony of love, partnership, and steadfast devotion.
Doug loved his family more than anything. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather ("Papa"), and great-grandfather ("Great Papa"). His greatest joy in life was being present for his family-encouraging them, supporting them, and loving them with his whole heart.
Doug's insurance career began in 1969 as a representative with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, where he quickly distinguished himself as a successful underwriter and business leader. Over time, he established and operated his own insurance brokerage, earning numerous awards and recognitions for excellence.
In the early 1990s, Doug developed a specialized worksite benefits company to help employers provide better family benefits to their employees. He personally designed supplemental benefit programs that made a meaningful difference in countless families' lives.
As the work grew, Wellington Benefits expanded rapidly over the next two decades. With the formation of NBC Benefits, Doug was elected President and Chief Executive Officer, leading the company with wisdom, vision, and a heart for serving others.
Doug enjoyed golf, vacationing, and watching movies, and he found joy in the simple moments spent with the people he loved. He was loving, funny, and warm-hearted, never meeting a stranger and always making others feel welcomed. He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Loma B. Faulkhis mother, Jennie Lee Faulk, and his sister, Gail Pfaf.
Doug is survived by his devoted wife, Dianne Faulk; his children, Douglas Faulk Jr. (Regina) and Sherrie Hunt (Randall); his sister and brothers, Robin Jackson (Ken), Bobby Faulk, Ron Faulk (Chris), David Faulk (Xiawling); Hhis brother-in-law, John Pfaf; his grandchildren; Adam Hunt (Stephanie), Jonathan Faulk (Gracan), Ashley Parker (Alex), and Sydney Faulk; Hhis precious great-granddaughter Layla Mae Elizabeth Faulk, born November 21, 2025.
His family will forever cherish his memory and the love he poured into each of their lives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at The River at Wrightsville Avenue 2132 Wrightsville Ave. Wilmington, NC 28403. The Visitation will begin at 4:30 PM with the services to begin at 6:00 PM.
Doug's legacy of faith, strength, and love lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in knowing he is safely home with Jesus.
