Douglas Leon Fish, a cherished member of the community, was born on April 20, 1942, in Bolivar, Tennessee, and passed away on March 3, 2026, in Medon, Tennessee. He lived a life enriched by friendships, community involvement, and a passion for the outdoors.
Leon was a well-regarded member of the Moose Lodge and dedicated his time to the Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting his commitment to serving others and his community. His participation in local affairs was well-known, and he was frequently approached by friends and neighbors regarding political and public office matters—a testament to his approachable and knowledgeable nature," if you wanted to get into office, talk to Leon Fish".
Leon found joy in simple pleasures, relishing time spent outdoors doing yardwork and cooking for family and friends. His love for fish led to numerous cookouts, where laughter and camaraderie were always present.
He leaves behind a loving family who will remember him fondly. His surviving sisters are Crystal Sterling, Phyllis Fish Phillips, and Polly Fish Morris. His daughter Debbie Fish Pierce (Michael), along with daughter Lisa Salinas (Johnny), also carry his legacy forward. Leon cherished his role as a father and took immense pride in his two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leo Tate Fish; his mother, Chessie Fish; and his sister, Alice Faye Smith Fish. Their memories will remain a significant part of his story.
Friends and family are invited to honor his life with a visitation on March 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Saulsbury, Tennessee. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location beginning at 2:00 PM. Leon will then be laid to rest in interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
Leon’s spirit, warmth, and laughter will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
