Lane was a friend of my brother, Tim Trollinger. He was part of our family. Lots of fun times at my parents house and a great friend to my brother. Such sad news to learn of his passing. Prayers to his family and friends.

I met Lane through Eric Coffey while I was still in junior high school. The three of us lived in the same neighborhood and we roamed the streets and surrounding woods, having fun with the other neighborhood kids (Tim Summy, Sherry Amick, Scott Cash, Tracy Johnson, Herb Tucker, just to name a few) and there families too. Lane always had the gift of gab with the parents of of his friends. Especially my parents. One time I came home on a weekend from college and Lane was at my house eating Saturday night stakes with my parents and I had not been invited. But it was a pleasure to see them having a wonderful time together. I belive Lane a better relationship with my mom and dad than I did. He and Eric were like big brothers to me. I was always tagging along. One thing that stood out about Lane was his love of older things, especially his 1953 F100 pick up. He, Eric and Lanes dad were constantly working on that truck with a great passion. Unfortunately, over the years, we drifted in our own direction with careers and families.
I think of those days of our youth and it brings a smile to my face.
The tragedy that has entered our lives with the news of Lanes death reminds me, we are here on earth, not guaranteed tomorrow and that we live by God's grace alone.
May God bless and comfort the family of Douglas Lane Gillie, Jr. during this trying time. May we all keep the faith in the promise of Jesus.
Lane you will be greatly missed.

Lane and I met when I was probably 11 years old and were friends for years thereafter. Lots of good times through thick and thin. 50 years of friendship is gone in an instant and difficult to come to grips with. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and hope there will be a memorial at some point.

I met Lane (while in high school) through my, then future, husband Brian. Brian had been friends with Lane since they were 5 years old. He was a really nice person and always fun and we had great laughs and times together. Many times at House of Pizza and hanging out a Greensboro College when I was attending school there. Prayers for comfort and strength to his family in this very trying time.

Lane was my best friend growing up. We went to high school together and on lots of great beach trips. I will miss him everyday he was a true friend.
