Dearest Gotlin family. Although I didn´t know Doug, I am friendly with his mother-in-law, Bev. I had the pleasure of meeting Nicole and want to express my deepest sympathy to the family. May his memory be a blessing AH

My best friend for 40 yrs. Words cannot describe how I feel about Dougie. He was a true friend through thick and thin. We didn´t need to see each other or communicate often. But when we connected it was like only minutes since we spoke. We were there for the most important parts of each others lives. He wanted to be a doctor more than anyone I knew. And he was in fact the best and hardest working doctor I knew. Best friend anyone could have. He had my back and I had his back always. It´s surreal to be posting this. I will always remember his happy, childish smile, Diet Coke and candy eating face. Rest in peace my friend. You were loved.

Working alongside Dr. Gotlin over the years at North Shore and Jackson North Hospitals has truly been a remarkable experience. His dedication to his craft was evident in everything he did. Dr. Gotlin was never one to waste time or approach tasks haphazardly; instead, he exemplified a work ethic that was both admirable and inspiring. Whether in the surgical suite or the labor room, his precision and focus set a standard that we all aspired to meet.
His life brought countless moments of joy to his patients, and that impact extends far beyond the confines of his professional duties. Dr. Gotlin had a unique ability to connect with those around him, making everyone feel valued and cared for. His laughter and kindness created an atmosphere of warmth and positivity that will be remembered by all.
As we celebrate his life and legacy, may the memories we hold dear always bring joy to our hearts. Thank you, Dr. Gotlin, for the incredible influence you had on our lives. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
With deepest sympathy ...

So sorry and sad to hear about Doug`s passing. My love, thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and his patients. An old UMASS college friend, Doug was always there with a smile, a kind word, a helping hand! He was just an all-around great person! One Spring Break, circa 1983 stands out when we were went with him to his world, in Florida. Doug will always live on in our hearts and in our minds, and he will be sorely missed.

At a loss for words for the passing of an incredible friend and colleague. One of my favourite memories of Doug was how he never hesitated to go out of his way for others and especially his patients, like staying late at the hospital to do a needed procedure for a patient. His kindness was effortless, his laughter was contagious, and his generosity was incredible. A tragic and heartfelt loss to the community which he was strongly involved in, and to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
