Sure wish I'd been the right age to have known Doug & bro Bart. I'm 84 now so missed them by years. Both were amazing Americans right out of the world created by Jefferson & other significant earlier Americans. Bravo to Doug on the anniversary of his death.

Uncle Doug has always been part of my life and memories and for a short while I lived with him and Aunt Rose. His intelligence and humor were always present and his artistic talents were inspiring. His loss leaves a void in my life and those of my family, but his presence will always be a blessing.

To the Family - first and foremost, my heartfelt condolences go out to you. I too know how vicious the journey is as cancer takes your loved one...I am sad that it has been a long while since I last spoke with Doug, my true loss. What a facinating man...I always looked forward to conversations with him and I could always find him in the room because he was "always" the one with the "radiant smile". Godspeed my friend and may your memories continue to enrich all of our lives.

Our condolences go out to the family during this difficult time. Mr Hinkle was always so nice, and never had I seen him without a smile one his face!

Over a 66 year time span I spent many hours with Doug, my older cousin. When asked he provided valuable and insightful suggestions which helped me along the path of life. His wit was sharp, quick and clever. He brought joy to my heart each time I saw him. I am saddened by his passing, but so very happy to have known him.

Doug was my mother-in-law's first cousin and she adored him and his brother, Bart. I heard many stories about them, but never met either. I sincerely regret that. I know Doug was a very special human being and the loss of him is a loss to all of humanity.
