"Beloved husband, father, grandfather & brother"
Antonio Magalhaes, 78, passed peacefully with his loving wife and family beside him at St. Francis Hospital of Hartford on January 15, 2023. He was the loving husband of Fernanda (Alves) Magalhaes.
Antonio was born in Lourosa, Portugal on February 16, 1944 to his late parents, Jose and Ester (Ribeiro) Magalhaes. He married Fernanda (Alves) Magalhaes on January 8, 1966, served in the Portuguese army and then immigrated to Waterbury, CT in 1969 to start a new life for his young family. Antonio had a long career in construction trades and owned carpentry home building businesses. He was an active member of the Our Lady of Fatima Church, Portuguese Sport Club of Waterbury and Clube Uniao Portuguesa of Naugatuck. He enjoyed shooting, gardening, wine making and was a devoted Benfica fan.
Besides his wife, Fernanda, he leaves his children, Jose Paul Magalhaes and his wife, Susan (Lutkus), and Marcio Magalhaes and his wife, Melissa (Lora), all of Waterbury, his grandson, Joshua Magalhaes of Waterbury, his siblings, Manuel Magalhaes and his wife, Rosa, of Waterbury, Carmolina Sousa and her husband, Delfim, of Waterbury, Arminda Oliveira of Waterbury, Joaquim and his wife, Helena, of Naugatuck, Adelino Magalhaes and his wife, Judith, of FL, and Americo Magalhaes of Waterbury, his sister, Maria Filippone of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by a brother, Jose Magalhaes, and a brother-in-law, Robert Filippone.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the church on Friday morning. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
