Douglas J. Hoovler

Douglas J. Hoovler, 70, of Hermitage, passed away surrounded by family on Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Mr. Hoovler was born March 28, 1955, in Sharon, a son of the late Harrison and June (Fennell) Hoovler. He was a 1973 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage.

For more than 30 years, Doug worked as a building custodian for the West Middlesex School District, retiring in 2020.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Doug also kept an active homestead, raising bees and keeping chickens. A talented marksman, he also loved the Steelers and to reminisce on their teams from the late 70s and early 80s.

His beloved wife of nearly 49 years, Deborah "Debbie" (Ruth) Hoovler, whom he married October 2, 1976, survives at home.

Doug is also survived by a daughter, DeAnn Robich (Robert), Hermitage; a son, Douglas "DJ" Hoovler, Jr. (Amy), Sharon; three sisters, Sandra Shacklock, Hermitage, Linda Kincaid (Chuck), Clark, PA, and Darlene Nagel (Bob), New Wilmington, PA; three grandchildren, Kylie and Ryan Robich, and Seth Hoovler.

In keeping with Doug's wishes, all services will be held privately.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
