To all, Thank you for the support of this past year. We have all grieved for Doug, we went to complete despair, confusion and disbelief in the beginning. We had to keep going, we would wake some mornings and ask ourselves "did that really happen?" To realize it did. I have tried to be courageous in deep despair, and turned it into hope, acceptance and peace. The promise of the Lord is that he will be with us during these times and he has for me, I know when my time comes we will all be together again. Doug is with us all, things he would of said pop up quite often and we have a good laugh about it. He lives on in his children, my children and our hearts. He left us with so much love, many memories of his tenacity his love of food and the forever child in him. I was so lucky to of had him for a brother and we are all better people to have experienced the "Dougie Love". Peace and love to all. Kerry

You are with us always!

Doug:
There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. We really went through some rough times together.
We were friends for over 27 years. You were always good to me and so kind. I miss you so much. I had the good forturne to see you just a couple of hours before you died. You took the time to see my sons at my house and that meant a lot to them since they did grow up with you in their lives.
I was happy to see that your spirit was never broken.
I know your kids are proud and so am I.
Love you and will never forget you.

Dougie,
I was driving to work today and I heard the Allman Brothers song Midnight Rider. It put a smile on my face, but a tear in my eye. I think about you and Jeremy all the time. You are two great guys that will always be remembered and never forgotten. Watch over and take care of all of us. We all miss you tons!

To all those who loved Doug,
We were so saddened to learn of the passing of Doug. We have such fond memories of the old basketball days with Doug and Kellie and Kristin and Jessica. Doug was such a delight and so much fun to be around. I ran into him a while back and we had such a nice visit about his new life. I have his story from the Sun on our refrigerator, and we all are thinking of all of you and of the old friend who made us laugh. God bless you all!

To start off I just want let everyone know that your kind words, loving memories, and support are what is getting us through this devastating time. Without all of you I don't even know what kind of state I would be in. To my family... There are no words that can even come close to expressing my gratitude for each and everyone of you. To the love of my life, Mike, my fiance, my rock, I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you.; Thank you for being my crutch. For the first time in my life I feel week and you make me feel strong.

My Dad was a wonderful man who lived in the fast lane (literally), played hard, loved even harder, and went out with a bang in just the manner he would have picked with the wind in his hair. My Dad did more living in just about 53 years of life then most do in 100. The smartest and most comforting thing I heard throughout this whole experience was said to me by my best friend who lost her father 21 years ago and I hope that all of you can find the strength in this tiny sentence just like I did; "When you feel those moments of peace where everything is going to be OK that means that your Daddy is with you giving you his strength and when that goes away and you are sad again it doesn't mean his gone he just went to help someone else and he'll be right back." Again thank you all, it really means the world to me to know that my Dad was loved and will never be forgotten.

FINALLY... To my Dad, I am so proud and honored to be Doug Mohn's daughter it was my pleasure to have spent almost 25 years with you. I promise to make you proud and someday maybe you'll be just a little envious of the life I'm living. I love you Dad.

My friends had bracelets made in my Dad's honor, if anyone would like one please let me know and I will gladly mail one to you. Whatever is left will be given out at my wedding.

In the past 15 years that I have known Dougie, I always felt like our friendship was "special". He took the time to visit us cross country where ever we lived. I always felt like we had a special bond!
However, after seeing the outpouring of love for Doug this last week, I realized that that was one of Dougie's gifts: making everyone feel like they were special. Dougie we shared some wonderful times and I will miss my "early morning buddy". Love to Jessica and Kristin--you have both turned into remarkable young women who will carry on Dougie's legacy.

The "99", The old yellow jet boat (you first one), bear hugs, the wood trim you had to replace in my kitchen and hall just 'cause they used the wrong kind and it bugged you to visit me and look at it, the time I drove your car and hit a pot hole (I never told you that), remember your face when Jessica dropped a whole gallon of milk on your new carpet?, taking me and my girlfriends to Lake Reiley for the whole day, walking me down the isle, getting up early one day and catching you watching smurfs with Jessica. Dougie I will miss you and you made me feel like your most important, part of the inner circle niece, but what's more amazing is EVERYBODY felt like that. You drew us all in and made us all a part of your world, and we are all better for it.

I had only known Doug for a few years having met him through a circle of friends. Being a career bartender of 23 years, I feel confident in stating I'm able to recognize a genuine, look you in the eye, straight forward individual. Doug was just that. Every opportunity to share his company was a positive and pleasurable experience. I am a fellow rider and will miss him greatly. My sympathy goes out to his family and especially his daughters whom he leaves behind. Be proud of him. He was an honorable man and well respected amongst his peers. He was a giver, not a taker. Take what he has given you, be the best that you can be, and know in your heart that he will continue to support, love, and watch over you.

Dear Mohn family,
I am so sorry to hear about Doug's passing. Even though i have not been in close contact with him since i moved out of the neighborhood, he would always wave or stop to say a quick hello when he would see me driving by. He was a nice and caring man and was taken too soon in life. He will be missed by many.

Doug was a great colleague and friend.   I have many great memories of trips down South, Piggy's runs, run-ins with a fire hydrant and someones mini-van, dinner at Dougies, and the bear hugs for all of his friends.   I enjoyed working with Doug over the past several years, and will miss his zest for life, and his caring attitude toward family and friends.   Doug will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege of calling him a friend.

I was one of many people that were fortunate to know Doug for over 20 years.Over the last 4 years Dougie and I had many opportunities to talk about life and the many curve balls it throws at you,We talked about our children and about others who have truly made a difference in our lives. Its important to keep the glass half full, with Dougie around it would over flow, We should all challenge ouselves to do this and make a difference in someones life everyday before we worry about ourselves. My heart goes out to Jess,Kristen, lana, Kelly and the Mohn family. My memories of Doug always include his great big smile and a great big hug. He had a quiet patience about him, a resounding laugh, and a propensity for mischief. I have watched him weather life’s good and bad times through the years and have often felt envious of the relationship Doug shared with his sister, his children, his parents, his family. There was no doubt he knew he was truly loved and they in turn knew they had his heart. It has been my honor to call you my friend across the years. Though your smile is gone, and there will be no more hugs, you gave us so many memories, and you’ll always be in our hearts.

When you go to the shelf and pull out the Big Book of Teddy bears, many, many old friends will greet you there. Grandfathers, fathers, brothers, sons, special friends....... they will all be there, and your heart will smile at the mention of their names. For those of us that Doug greeted by smothering us in those great big arms, you know that his three wishes would be: Take the time to be as passionate about life as you can possibly be, Work and play with equal energy, and never, never pass up the chance to tell someone how you feel. I love you Doug. We've laughed and cried together for over 30 years, and it's been a pleasure....... and an adventure!

Oh how we loved Dougie. He was such a sweet guy. I will always remember him drinking all my bicardi Lemon' at Nancy's house that I would leave there and boy, did I LOVE to tease him about it BUT he always replaced it, which truly wasn't necessary (cuz I loved to share) but sweet just the same. I also will never forget all the rides Steve and I took with him. At some point he would suddenly disappear when we stopped for a break and lo and behold he would ALWAYS turn up with cheese curds to share. It was amazing but there was not a cheese curd that could hide from Dougie. Steve and I are so happy he and his beautiful Lana could be present at our wedding last July 21. We have such beautiful pictures of the two of them on that very special day. I will never forget how hard he made me laugh when I sat next to him on the airplane to North Carolina. The stories he told just brought me to tears with laughter. That was the quickest plane ride ever! It was just always such a joy to see his smiling face. We love you Doug and we will always miss you.
