Older, Douglas "Doug" Jerome, of Isle, a veteran, entrepreneur, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home on his 80th birthday, August 17, 2025. Doug's passing came after a long and courageous battle with blindness and other health issues, which were the result of his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam.

Born in Fairmont, Minnesota, Doug spent his youth in Igloo and Mitchell, South Dakota, before his family settled in Burnsville, Minnesota. He was a talented high school athlete, playing both baseball and basketball. After graduating from Burnsville High School in 1963 and attending Mankato State University, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1964. For 14 years, he served with honor, including tours in Vietnam, where he was an E-6 Petty Officer on the USS Oxford. He also flew extensive reconnaissance missions in a P-3 Orion along the Japanese coast.

After his military career, Doug became a leading quality consultant, ISO auditor, and instructor through his successful business, Techlogic, Inc. His creative spirit also led him to invent the games "Fishin' Time," "Lutefisk," and "Clown Bingo." While he loved to travel the world, he found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of home: tending to his backyard gardens, bird watching, and relaxing by a fire while sharing stories with loved ones.

Doug will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering faith, his incredible dedication to his family and friends, and the peaceful beauty of his gardens.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, Valerie (Tim) Pass and Clayton (Katie) Older; and his five grandchildren: Ryan, Ashley, Derek, Jessica, and Tova. He also leaves behind his sisters, Valerie (Chuck) Omvig, Judy McManamin, Nola McGown, and Kim (Brad) Bosley; his brother, Glen Older; and many cherished relatives and dear friends. Doug was preceded in death by his infant son, his parents, and many other loved ones.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mille Lacs Family Health System for their compassionate homecare.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen, with visitation starting one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service, with military burial at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A livestream of his Mass can be viewed at https://watchitlivestream.com/d-older/ Celebration of Life: A Celebration of Life will be held next summer at his home in Isle, Minnesota. The date will be determined and announced later.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
