Douglas "Doug" Page Obituary

Doug Page, 64, of Columbus passed from this life on Monday, December 22, 2025, at his home. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, and cousin whose life was defined by kindness, generosity and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

Doug was born on July 7, 1961, in Columbus, the son of William David and Donetta Hewitt Page.

A lifelong passion for sports was woven throughout Doug's life. For more than 30 years, he played men's and coed softball, finding joy on the ball field. The coed team was a true family tradition made up of cousins, his sister and brother-in-law with his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles proudly cheering from the stands. Those moments reflected what Doug loved most - family, togetherness, and shared memories.

Doug also devoted himself to coaching girls' softball at Columbus East where he spent countless hours mentoring young athletes. He believed in teaching more than just the fundamentals of the game, he instilled lessons of teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and respect that extended far beyond the field. His impact on those players will be felt for years to come.

A loyal and enthusiastic fan, Doug proudly supported his Chicago Cubs, IU basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts. Off the field, Doug found happiness in the simple moments such as, having lunch with his cousin, Kelly Ann; enjoying gatherings with his sister and her family; and making special trips to the zoo with his daughter, Shelby; and also playing a good round of golf. One of the most cherished moments of Doug's life was meeting his only granddaughter, Cordilia. It is a memory his daughter will hold close forever.

Survivors include his daughter, Shelby (Pat) Strang; sister, Michelle (Dave) Finchum; his nephews, Brandon Finchum, Ryan Finchum, and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and some aunts and uncles.

Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home. In keeping with Doug's wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Doug will be remembered for his good spirit, his devotion to his family and the many lives he touched through his love of the game and his kindness to others.

In memory of Doug memorial contributions may be given to the Bartholomew County Humane Society. Online condolences and special memories may be shared with the Page family at barkesweaverglick.com.
