In Loving Memory of Douglas Charles Prowse
January 24,2026
Douglas Charles Prowse, known to many simply as Doug, lived a life defined by service, curiosity, craftsmanship, and an open-hearted love for people. Born on November 19, 1946, Doug grew up in
Miami, Florida, where his lifelong love of the water began. Sailing and fishing were sources of peace, joy, and connection that stayed with him throughout his life.
Doug proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected the values he carried throughout his life: dedication, responsibility, and quiet strength.
A lifelong antique dealer, Doug had an extraordinary eye for history and craftsmanship. Alongside his beloved wife, Linda, he co-owned Pleasures from the Past Antique Shop in Titusville for 21 years. The shop was more than a business-it where he demonstrated his talents working with his hands. He had a remarkable ability to fix or repair almost anything, a gift that reflected both his ingenuity and patience.
Doug was also a devoted Disney enthusiast, finding magic in its stories, parks, and the sense of wonder they brought. In later years, he combined his love for people while working as a greeter for Carnival Cruise Lines, a role he truly cherished. Meeting new people, sharing smiles, and making others feel welcome brought him genuine happiness.
Above all, Doug will be remembered for his joyous spirit. He was full of life, endlessly friendly, and always ready to help someone in need. He had a rare gift for making people feel like friends, even if he had just met them.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolyn Prowse; Loving wife, Linda Prowse. Survived by his children Stephanie Groce and her husband Frank Groce, Debbie Price, and Connie Weaver; and his grandchildren Aaron Groce and Kaitlyn Groce. His sister, Beth Warriner.
Doug's family and friends take comfort and peace in knowing that he has gone to be with the Lord. Though his absence is deeply felt, they are sustained by the assurance of his eternal rest and the promise of reunion. His faith, love, and joyful spirit now live on in a place of peace, where he is whole and forever embraced by God's grace.
