Douglas M. Thames, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Newnan, Georgia. Born on November 19, 1935, in College Park, Georgia, Douglas lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, faith, and career.

Douglas was a proud alumnus of Campbell High School. In 1953, he was drafted by the Orlando Senators, a minor league baseball team, reflecting his lifelong love of sports. Following his military service, Douglas embarked on a successful career in the trucking industry, working with Brown Transport and later retiring from Benton Express. His dedication and hard work were a testament to his character and integrity.

Faith played an important role throughout Douglas's life. He grew up attending Union Christian Church and later attended First Baptist Fairburn. His spiritual journey was a source of strength and guidance for him and his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Thames; his cherished grandchildren, Christy Herzig and her husband Austin, Julie Thames and her husband Ryan Edelen; and his great-grandsons, Hudson and Connor Herzig.
