Douglas Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitley Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. - Kalamazoo on Feb. 6, 2026.
Douglas "Doug" Thompson, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 2, leaving behind hearts forever changed by his absence.

Doug was a devoted and loving husband to his wife and best friend, Maureen, and a proud, deeply caring father to his four children, Tia, Morgan, Olivia, and Matthew, whom he adored beyond measure. Family was the center of Doug's world, and everything he did was rooted in his unwavering love, support, and dedication to those he cherished most.

Doug shared a deep, steady, and inspiring love with his soul mate Maureen-one built on devotion, respect, and partnership. Together for 37 years, they modeled what true love and family mean, leaving a powerful example that will live on through their children and loved ones.

Known for his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, Doug had a rare ability to make people feel truly seen and cared for. He was the kind of man who would help anyone, anywhere, without hesitation. He worked tirelessly, yet loved even harder, offering guidance, wisdom, and unconditional support to his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Doug was more than a husband and father - he was a loyal friend to so many. To his friends, Doug was steady, dependable, and endlessly generous. He showed up without being asked, listened without judgment, and gave his time and heart freely. Whether through quiet conversations, shared laughter, or simply being there when it mattered most, Doug made lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. His friendships were built on trust, kindness, and sincerity, and those bonds will continue to be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend.

Doug's passing has left an immeasurable void, but his legacy of love, kindness, strength, and selflessness will continue to guide those he leaves behind. He will be carried forward in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at Doug and Maureen's home in Galesburg. Details will be shared at a later date.

Doug was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
