Douglas "Doug" D. VanDyke, age 74, late of Tinley Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, love, and devotion to his family.
Beloved husband of Patricia VanDyke (née LaBarre). Loving father of Daniel (Christine) VanDyke and Susie (Johnny) Szpakowski. Cherished and proud "Grand Pappy" of Jackson. Dear brother of John (Sybil) VanDyke. Fond uncle of Melissa (Brian) Wille and Jake (Teena) VanDyke, and great-uncle to Madison and Riley.
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Wanda VanDyke, and his brother, Ralph VanDyke.
Doug was a true artist in every sense of the word. A master of many mediums, he expressed his creativity through sculpting, painting, and wood carving. His passion for art was matched only by his appreciation for music and literature. Known affectionately as a modern-day Renaissance man, Doug found beauty in all forms of artistic expression and shared that passion with those around him.
Above all, Doug will be remembered for his love of family, and his gentle spirit.
Visitation will be held on Doug's birthday, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois. Interment will be private.
