Mr. Douglas C. Wessinger, 79, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Wessinger was born November 11, 1945, in Tyus in Carroll County, son of the late Newman Clifford Wessinger and Pauline Lancaster Wessinger. He attended Hogansville High School, earned a diploma in welding and electrical from West Georgia Technical College, and was a U.S. Navy veteran and served one year in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Uniroyal in Hogansville for 47 years, retiring as plant manager. Mr. Wessinger was a member of Hogansville Church of God, was a past president of the Hogansville Lions Club, and served two years as a Hogansville City Councilman.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela Simpson (Chris Burnham) of Hogansville, Renee Huber (Chad Huber) of Carrollton; son, Mike Wessinger of Hogansville; grandchildren, Amber Burnham, Matthew Burnham (Dusty Burnham), Caitlyn Snyder (Jacob Snyder), Kelsey Kane (Parker Kane), Colton Huber, Bryce Huber; great-grandchildren, Bentley Olmstead, Brantley Olmstead, Demy Burnham, Davina Burnham, Judah Snyder; sisters, Linda Dingler of Roopville, Paulette Fricks of Carrollton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wessinger; brother, Harold Wessinger; and sisters, Louise Gray, and Lucille Grainger.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 18.
