Douglas "Doug" James White, 71, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at Linda E. White Hospice House.

Doug was born in Aurora, Illinois on August 6, 1954, to Robert F. and Barbara L. (Iberg) White. Doug will be remembered for his lifelong passion for music and talent as a professional-quality jazz guitarist. Doug found joy in tending his vegetable garden and traveling. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. Doug was a skilled craftsman and expressed his creativity by designing and crafting HO scale buildings.

Doug is survived by his mother, Barbara L. (Iberg) White of Newburgh, IN; brother, Dale White (Ann) of Boonville, IN; and nephews, Daniel White (Megan) of Sheffield, AL and Kevin White (Jenna) of Ankeny, IA.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. White; sister, Annette K. White; and nephew, Michael White.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Doug's life will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. A private burial will be held at Blue Grass Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Foundation for Cancer Research, 5515 Security Ln., Suite 1105 Rockville, MD 20852.
