We are saddened to announce the death of Doyle Gene Beck, 89, of Potosi, Missouri. Doyle passed peacefully on Thursday the 20th of July, 2023 at 10:40 in the evening while sleeping at home. Doyle was born on August 17th, 1933 in Ellington, MO to his parents Luther and Pearl Beck. He was the 6th of 10 children. Doyle graduated High School in Ellington in 1952 and joined the Army the following year. He served as a mechanic for 2 years. After his time in the military he met his wife and the love of his life Linda Nell Ezell. After a brief courtship they married on June 23, 1956 and stayed together nearly 70 years. Doyle and Linda had three children Michael, Pamela and Steven.
Doyle was a career man and enjoyed more than one extended tenure in his professional life. Early on he was a conservation agent in Washington County, MO and was the consummate professional, treating both coworkers and wrong-doers with dignity and respect. Some people arrested by him tell stories of Doyle sneaking out of the shadows and catching them red-handed, after moving silently through the brush. His record is that of legend in the area. After a decade in conservation, Doyle changed his career to Insurance and joined with Missouri Farm Bureau, Doyle spent years as a Regional Sales Manager and spent much of his time mentoring and guiding agents all over the state on how to succeed. He was very well respected in the industry and those around him have nothing but kind words and praise when asked about Doyle and his impact on them.
Doyle enjoyed his time away from work as well. He loved horses, the freedom of the outdoors, country life and the sounds of country music. On any given day you could find him watching a Cardinals game, or checking the weather to make sure his family was safe in their travels. He was a man that cared deeply and took his responsibilities very seriously. Doyle was also a lifetime member of the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218. Above all, Doyle was a family man who was patient, humble and kind to all around him. He was a father figure to so many more than his own children and was highly respected by all.
Doyle is survived by his loving wife, Linda, 3 children, Michael (Nancy) Beck, Pamela (Ed) Jones, Steven (Jenny) Beck, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his 3 younger siblings, Wanda (Steve) DeClue, Mary (Russ) Luecke, and Victor (Joan) Beck.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of donations to the City of Potosi All Inclusive Playground/Splash-Pad Project or the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation
