WEAVERVILLE – Doyle “Butch” Rice, age 74, of Weaverville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Mr. Rice was born on May 2, 1951, and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was owner and operator of R & R Wrecker Company for 24 years. Butch was an avid Nascar Fan, and his favorite driver was Kyle Busch. He was very dedicated to Jodi and his entire family. He was the son of the late Ernest “Bill” and Eloise Hensley Rice and husband of the late Mary Jo “Jodi” Rice to whom he was married 47 years.
Surviving is his daughter, Sherri Angel and husband Jeff; son, Ernie Rice and wife Brandy; stepdaughter, Debbie Dawson and husband Mike; stepson, Paul Martin and wife Jenifer; sisters, Sandra Kay Harwood; brothers, Gary Rice and Carolyn, Billy Rice, Bobby Rice and wife Talana, Jimmy Rice and Pam, and “Chuck” Rice and Belinda; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Brian Buckner officiating. Burial will follow at West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts St., Weaverville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the funeral home.
