Doyle Curtis Hayes, 83, of Middlebury, passed away at 10:15 am on Sunday, October 6, at Goshen Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on July 7, 1941, in Pioneer, OH, to Curtis Ray and Grace (Bennett) Hayes. On April 14, 2000, at their home in Middlebury, he married Susan Cook, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are five children, Doyle Jr. (Cindy) Hayes, John (Stormie) Hayes, Mark Hayes, Michelle (Dave) Gilson, and Tabitha (Randy) Tyler; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Connie Sue (Mike) Brokaw; brother, Bruce (Margaret, dec.) Hayes; sister, Mary (Mariam, dec.) Sawter. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters. Doyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a truck driver and a hay farmer. He was an entrepreneur who started many companies including a body shop and a seat conversion company. He had a love for horses, especially Clydesdales. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Burial will be at a later date.
