I first met David in July of 1987 when I began Neurosurgery Residency. He was only one year ahead of me but immediately became a mentor , role model and friend. He was a gifted surgeon and provided a lot of sage advice in my career. Not sure why I was thinking of him today. I am in a state of shock. May the creator provide comfort during this time of grief for his family .

Dr. Jimenez was not only a highly skilled surgeon but also an innovator. 14 years ago we entrusted our 5-week old son to his care, and using the novel endoscopic techniques that he developed, our son had a superior surgical outcome. We owe a deep debt of gratitude for the superb care we received and would like Dr. Jimenez´s family to know the deep impact he has had in our lives. Love, Dennis&Giselle

David was one of my best friends in all of neurosurgery. We initially met many years ago through our involvement in CSNS, and remained close over with organized Neurosurgery. We always took time for dinner or drinks to catch up at every meeting. The more I learned about David´s life story, the more I loved this kind, brilliant, remarkable man. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by me and many others. Love to Lisa and all of David´s family.

Fourteen years ago, we traveled to San Antonio from Houston so Dr. Jimenez could perform the cranio surgery on our nine week old son. We had never met him. Within twenty-four hours of meeting him, we handed our precious son over to Dr. Jimenez to perform this life-changing surgery. He knew how difficult this was for us, and he was sympathetic and patient with us. He even came in the pre-op room and allowed our pastor to pray over him. God gave him a gift that had helped so many around the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues, and patients.

The world has lost a true amazing man and an amazing doctor who affected and changed the lives of so many.

After my then 16 year daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor we interviewed a couple of surgeons. After meeting Doctor Jimenez our daughter immediately said that's my doctor.

I can't explain the peace Dr. Jimenez brought to my daughter prior to the surgery.
After the surgery his care and humor brought us all a peace that is difficult to explain. Dr. Jimenez saved our daughter's life.

Five years after her brain surgery my daughter recieved an engineering degree from UT Austin.
I credit all her success to his caring loving approach and incredible skill.

My family will be forever grateful.
Our deepest sympathy to the Jimenez family .

David (Fernando) was one of my first residents when I started working at Temple University and St. Chris hospital in Philadelphia (1988). In fact, we fondly remembered my very first with him as a lifelong memory (patient WP). Fernando (as we knew him and loved him) has been with us as we did done many things, including global neurosurgery, writing chapters, talking over cases, and keeping up during social events.

It is truly a loss and a rather sudden and unexpected pain to give up dear Fernando to heaven so soon. David was as gifted as loving, and advanced the field of pediatric neurosurgery while sharing his heart with countless children.
Dear Fernando, the bond we shared is a special one!
And the respect you always gave me for teaching you has been, and will remain a cherished smile.
Your friend,
Jogi Pattisapu

Not many Nurse Practitioners get the opportunity to study with an amazing, brilliant doctor, but I did thanks to Dr. Jimenez and his precious wife,Lisa. I carry with me in practice today the knowledge I gleaned from him. Not just medical knowledge, but compassionate wisdom. Observing his care of each patient, parent and sibling taught me the importance of listening and learning from others during the hardest times. The personal connection he created with families is a guidepost I strive to reach in my daily practice. Knowing I will see him again brings a smile amidst the tears. Prayers for your loss, Lisa!

My friend Fernando was the hardest working most determined medical student at Temple Medical school. He and I were Cadaver mates and study buddies. I know how hard he worked both academically and financially to support his mother, grandmother and sister while in med school and residency. He proved how capable he was and then some. A truly wonderful human being and an amazing neurosurgeon who transformed the lives of all his patients. Sending my heartfelt condolences to his entire family

Dr. Jimenez was the most wonderful and caring Doctor I have ever met. He operated on our son with craniosynostosis at 6 weeks of age. It was the most terrifying experience we ever had as parents, but Dr. Jimenez's calm and loving demeanor put us at ease. We traveled from Florida to Texas because he was simply the BEST. We are forever grateful that we met him and that he fixed our son's head. We think about him often to this day, 13 years later. And we are shocked and deeply saddened tonight to learn of his passing. We will miss him and hope his legacy will live on in the techniques he developed and the example he set as an extraordinarily kind-hearted man.

Dr. Jimenez was a phenomenal doctor and human being. Sixteen years ago, I questioned what the words of gratitude should be for a man who allowed my daughter to grow up to be the person she was destined to be because of his skills. There are hundreds upon hundreds of children that he helped and are better for him and all that he did for them. We are forever grateful for him. May his memory be for a blessing!

Where do I start? My heart is broken knowing the world lost this treasure, an out of the box thinker, such an amazing Man! He saved my Kellen´s life, he and his amazing wife Mrs. Lisa! My Kellen was 8 weeks old when I talked to Mrs. Lisa about the life saving work Dr.J did. I obviously made the right decision and brought my son from TN to TX for the best of the best to do surgery on my son! This surgery was life changing for my Kellen and he was a different child from that day on! Tomorrow marks five years since we met the Jiminez family for surgery on my baby boy! I can´t believe it´s been 5 year and now your gone! I will forever be in your debt, and forever tell the world what you two did for my family! I pray for your beautiful wife and children, as I can only imagine Their loss! Thank you Dr.Jiminez for all the lives you touched and for all the babies lives you saved, especially by baby! This world will never be the same without you!!

I met Dr. Jimenez in 2020 as he was beginning to make his mark on El Paso's pediatric population and we were all dealing with the effects of COVID. He has operated on and followed several of my young patients who are flourishing, due to his steady hands, brilliant mind and kind heart. I valued him as a colleague and consultant and am sad that he will no longer be contributing to our community. Rest in Peace, Dr. Jimenez and condolences to his family.

Not to many people know about dr Jimenez Mission trips. He used to go to phillipines and other places but he went with us to Kyrgistan their pediatric hospital. He did several surgeries. And met se eral physicians developing very good relatins. Teach tgem about endoscopic surgery and craniosynostosis and left there a complete endoscopic system for their use. Our prayers are with His family for strength in this difficult times. May the Lord of creation carry them in the palm of his hand. Lisa may the Lord give you strength in this difficult times and be your Shalom.

Dr Jimenez wow! What a legacy you have left! You did so much for the city of San Antonio. You built a program that was near extinction. The Neurosurgery program is what it is now because of your vision and leadership. You brought amazing neurosurgeons to the city of San Antonio. George and I will always remember the Christmas parties! Thank you for making Neurosurgery so much fun! This is not a goodbye but "I´ll see you later" Lisa, you are in our prayers. David was one of those rare people in life that leave an indelible mark on you. You can´t help but love him. I met him first as a resident many years ago doing his crani cases and we have kept in touch. He did so much good for this world and had one of the purest hearts. I am so saddened by this news and my prayers are with his family.
