Dr. Mr. Lacey as I called him was a wonderful and funny fellow. I loved being in his presence and helping him with his various work projects back in the day at LRSD. Continue to rest easy Dr. Lacey.

My first memory of Dr. Lacey was as a deacon as my church. I was a little girl and didn't really realize the importance of his leadership and education efforts in the community. As I got older I, of course, grew to understand his contributions to the community through education and other initiatives, but I'm glad my memory of him was as a deacon as Greater Archview Baptist Church.

I worked with Dr. Lacey as well as Mrs. Dr. Lacey at the LRSD. Dr. J. J. received a vice principalship at Booker Arts Magnet and I had helped him with his paperwork, etc. He and Mrs. Lacey took to me dinner and we had the best time. They were such a cute couple. He is now resting with his wife. Rest in peace Dr. J. J.

I always enjoyed seeing them at Immanuel and getting the chance to talk with them about life. They were a loving couple that shared the gospel and kept life routed in Afro-American history. Being educators they never missed an opportunity to teach especially Dr. J.J. Lacey or to instill words of encouragement towards higher education. As I continued my education, I remember him telling me when times get tough, dig deeper and God has got you as long as you remember to put your faith in Him. Dr. Lacey's infectious smile and sense of humor will be missed. (May the loving couple be reunited in heaven). Praying God's grace and peace along with blessed memories for the family.

My early memory of Dr. Lacey was as a little girl. We were neighbors in West Helena. Dr. Lacey was my dance partner. We did the Skate Dance to "Picking Wild Mountain Berries" (song). I still love to dance!
Dr. Lacey and my father (Elijah Petty) were roommates in college at AM&N (Pine Bluff/UAPB). My mother and Dr. Marion Lacey met their husbands in college. Cynthia, I haven't forgotten us trying to pierce each others ears with a needle (LOL) when we lived next door to each other in Lincoln Court (West Helena).
The family has my condolences! It is never an easy transition.
