Elkhart – Dr. John B. Baccus III, 62, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at his home of natural causes.
He was born in Dallas, Texas to John B. Baccus, Jr. and Darla Faye (Morrow) Baccus.
They survive along with his wife, Frances R. (Franceschi) Baccus , whom he married June 12, 1993 in San Antonio, Texas.
Also surviving is a daughter, Emma Baccus, Dallas; sons, Caleb and Micah Baccus, both of Goshen; and a sister, Belynda (Jonathon) Berzas, State College, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Baccus III served in the United States Navy, both active duty and in the reserves, retiring in 2022 as a Captain in the Medical Corps. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School, Houston. He worked as an anesthesiologist and later specialized in pain management.
He was a member and elder at Goshen First Baptist Church, and served on the board of RETA, Reason Enough to Act.
Ben had many interests including cooking, WWII history, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M football teams. He had a passion for reading God’s word, listening to country music and was a gun collector.
Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2026 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Goshen, 1011 South Indiana Ave., Goshen; and 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 31 prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service at the church. Pastor Brant VanHooser will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.
