John Michael Law, DDS passed away May 13, 2024.  Dr. Law was a native of Westmoreland, Tennessee.  He is preceded in death by parents, Johnnie E. Law, and Sarah E. Law; and sister, Peggy Dorris.  Dr. Law is survived by son, Nathaniel Law (Jodi); twin daughters, Amy Law (Jen) and Emily Hodge (Brandon); grandchildren, Graham Law Hodge (Molly), Campbell Hodge Seeley (Jake), Hayden Michael Hodge, Delaney Law, Garrett Michael Law, Braden Cooke, Lilyana Cooke; great-grandson, Cason Law Seeley; and long-time friend, Terri Arnett.

Dr. Law was a graduate of Westmoreland High School, Martin Methodist College, receiving an AA degree, attended Memphis State University and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, receiving Doctor of Dental Surgery.  After graduating from dental school in December 1968, Dr. Law entered the US Navy in April 1969 and served as a dental officer for two years, stationed with the Second Marine Division, Marine Corps base at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with his young family.

Dr. Law opened his dental practice in Madison in April 1971 and practiced over 46 years, retiring in 2017.  Dr. Law loved his profession and his patients.  His family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to his many staff members over the years, without whom he could not have provided dental care to thousands of patients, and the many thousands of valued patients that trusted him with their dental care.

Dr. Law loved his home since 1975 on Old Hickory Lake and never tired of the glorious sunsets.  Dr. Law, his son, and grandson fished all over the Atlantic and Gulf Coast, Hawaii, Quebec, Northern Minnesota, Southwestern Ontario, Alaska, Northern Manitoba, and of course local lakes and streams.  The Law family took many vacations and attended special events, one of the most memorable was taking the kids and their friends to a KISS concert at the Municipal Auditorium!  Dr. Law was also a four-decade season ticket holder at the UT VOLS Neyland stadium in Knoxville.

Dr. Law was active in his profession and was a member of the Nashville Dental Society (past President and board member), the Tennessee Dental Association (past Vice President and board member), and retired life member of the American Dental Association.  He was also an emeritus member of the Academy of General Dentistry.  He was also founding member of the Music City Dental Study Club.

Dr. Law was a Fellow American College of Dentistry, Fellow International College of Dentistry, and Fellow the Pierre Fauchard Academy.  He was a long-time dentist volunteer at the Interfaith Dental Clinic, a provider for the Donated Dental Service Program, and went on a medical mission trip to Guatemala.  He was a past member of the board of Kings Daughters Child Development Center.

Dr. Law was a 45-year member of the Madison Goodlettsville Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow Rotary International.  He was a proud BSA Eagle Scout.
