Middendorf Funeral Home - Fort WrightDr. Joseph B. McClure, Jr. passed away Monday, November 10, 2025 at the age of 87 years old. He was preceded in death by his spouse, the late Joan C. McClure (nee Halpin). He is survived by his children Jackie (Bob) Magyarics, Jenny (Todd) Staten, Jim (Liz) McClure, John (Robin) McClure, Jerry (Nicole) McClure and Jill (Mike O’Neill) Allegretti; sibling, Linda McClure Waters; grandchildren, Bobby (Amy) Magyarics, Casey Magyarics, Joe Staten, Nick (Mikala) McClure, Emma Allegretti, Reid Allegretti, Lucy Allegretti, Ben McClure, Sophia McClure, Noah McClure and Jonah McClure; great-grandchildren, Teddy Magyarics and Louise Magyarics.
Born in Covington, Kentucky, Joseph was a 1956 graduate of St. Xavier High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 – 1959 and graduated from the University of Kentucky Dental School in 1968. He opened a private practice in Carrollton, KY where he and his wife provided dental care to the community until deciding to pursue an advanced degree in Endodontics. He completed his residency at New York University in 1974 while also working at the VA Hospital in New York City and private practice in Northern New Jersey. Joseph was a Diplomat of the Board of Endodontics and partner of Endodontic Associates retiring in 1987. During retirement he taught dentistry at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He was a life member of the American Dental Society, Marine Corps League, American Association of Endodontics, New Jersey Dental Society, UK AlumLife, NRA and Rotary Club. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips as well as traveling with his family around the world.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 22 from 11:00 am until time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church 10272 US Highway 42, Union, KY 41091.
Burial service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery – North with full military honors will be held Monday, November 24 at 11:00 am. His wife Joan, of 64 years will be buried along with Joseph.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery North – North 205 Eibeck Ln. Williamstown, KY 41097.
