Dr. Lowell Matthew Williams, a member of the Old Fields, WV community, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on December 6, 1932, in Frostburg, MD, Lowell was the loving son of Matthew and DorothyMarie Kroll Williams. Dr. Williams was a longtime member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church and Mountain Lodge #99, A.F. & A.M. of Frostburg, MD and a past member of the WV Board of Chiropractic Examiner’s.

 

After earning his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri, Lowell returned to his roots and established his practice in Moorefield and Westernport, MD. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Lowell made a lasting impact as a dedicated chiropractor for over 50 years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 to assist in the Korean War, caring for countless patients throughout his career, providing them with healing and relief. Known for his compassionate nature and dedication to his profession, Dr. Lowell's impact extended far beyond the walls of his office. 

 

When he wasn't serving his patients, Dr. Lowell enjoyed traveling and camping with his beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia Carol “Pat” O’Rourke Williams, creating cherished memories with family and friends. Together, they explored the beauty of Deep Creek Lake and ventured to warm destinations during the winter months in Florida. Dr. Lowell's adventurous spirit even took him soaring through the skies as a licensed pilot, allowing him to navigate the world with ease.

 

Beyond his professional achievements and love for travel, Lowell reveled in spending time with his family. He cherished the special moments shared with his daughters, Beverly Ann (Eric) See and Karen Beth (Brent) Williams-Ours-Bobo, and his grandchildren Shayna (Danny) Warnick, Tyson (Kelley) Ours, Ross (Ashley) Sherman, Ryan (Laura) See, and Crosby Ours. The joy of his life extended to his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Madalynn, Mylin, Aliyah, Ava and Addison, who brought immeasurable happiness to his days.

 

A celebration of Dr. Lowell Williams' remarkable journey will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street. The funeral service, officiated by his nephew, Pastor Earl Williams, will commence at 1:00 PM. Following the service, Dr. Lowell will be laid to rest in a ceremonial burial at the Olivet Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army and the Moorefield Veteran's Honor Guard.

Dr. Lowell Matthew Williams will forever be remembered as a compassionate healer, a devoted husband, and a beloved pillar of his community.
