Maxwell Farmer Parrott III, born May 23rd, 1967 in Marietta, GA, known as ‘Dr. Parrott’ to many, ‘Max’, or ‘Maxie’ to others, passed on February 11th, 2025 at his home in Calhoun, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; parents, Maxwell Farmer Parrott II and Cheryl Parrott; children, Meredith, Macey, and Maddox and daughter-in-law, Hannah; brother, Mathew; and niece Alyza. He is also survived by many of his patients, for whom he cared deeply. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith, Iris, John, and Maxwell Farmer Parrott I as well as all of the patients he cared for in their time on earth.
Max finished pharmacy school at the University of Georgia, where he met his beloved wife, Elizabeth. After a memorable experience at UGA, filled with many fraternity events, football games, and concerts at the 40 Watt, he attended medical school at The University of South Carolina. He then went on to complete a residency at The University of Alabama, Birmingham, where he was elected chief resident. After completion of his medical training, he and his growing family moved to Calhoun, Georgia, the place he would call home for the next twenty-six years.
Max worked as a physician at Advent Health Gordon (previously Gordon Hospital) since 1998 and joined Advent Health Murray in 2016, holding many roles. He was a hospitalist, director of Gordon Home Care, and part-time CMO as well as serving on several committees. Under his leadership, both Advent Health Gordon and Advent Health Murray received top designation awards. Throughout this time, Max also practiced internal medicine and was a partner in private practice in Calhoun. Additionally, he worked at Tapestry Hospice for fourteen years, serving as their medical director.
In his free time, Max took up cycling and running. He completed several marathons, duathlons, and triathlons, eventually becoming an Ironman finisher in 2015. He also enjoyed time outdoors, hiking and kayaking. He loved to travel and experience new places with his wife and family. Max will be missed deeply by his family and community. We will all carry his compassionate spirit in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Advent Health Gordon Foundation.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Services to Celebrate Max's Life will be conducted on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 AM at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeremy Noffsinger officiating.
