Dr. Nile Eugene Smith Jr.

Dr. Nile E. Smith, Jr., age 81, of Texarkana, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life and entered eternal rest surrounded by love. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, he grew into a man of profound purpose, unwavering faith, and extraordinary accomplishment.
Raised with strong values and a deep commitment to service, he dedicated much of his life to serving his country and his community. He proudly served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army, where he answered a higher calling as a military chaplain. His compassionate spirit and steady guidance comforted countless service members and families throughout his years of faithful duty.

A man of immense intellect and passion for learning, he earned multiple degrees and doctorates, continuing his education throughout his lifetime. His love for knowledge shaped a remarkable career as a psychologist, a respected professor, and a minister devoted to helping others heal, grow, and find purpose. His wisdom touched many lives, both in and out of the classroom.

Dr. Nile E. Smith, Jr. was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., exemplifying the fraternity's principles of scholarship, leadership, and service. His presence and influence within the brotherhood will be remembered with deep respect.
Of all his accomplishments, his greatest joy came from his family. He shared a beautiful life with his late wife, Arginettia Smith, with whom he had seven children. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steady foundation for his family-always offering encouragement, guidance, and unconditional love.

He lived a full and wonderful life marked by purpose, generosity, compassion, and faith. His legacy continues in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his late wife of 37 years, Arginettia Smith, and his parents, Nile E. Smith Sr. and Marzell Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Robin Smith; his seven children: Nile E. Smith III (Teresa), Lenila Devett Smith, Zachary T. Smith, Rosalyn S. Harvin (Anthony), Marginettia I. Smith, Geraldine Julia Pendleton (Jose), Josephus D. Smith; his three siblings: Brian, Ralph & Beverly; his grandchildren; his extended family; his Alpha Phi Alpha brothers; and the countless individuals whose lives he touched through ministry, counseling, and teaching.

Dr. Nile E. Smith, Jr. will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his servant's heart, and his unwavering devotion to God, family, and service. His life was a gift, and his legacy will live on forever.
