HAVERHILL - Dr. Philip (Phil) Minichiello, Sr. of Bedford, NH, formerly of Haverhill, MA and Newton Jct. NH, son of the late Nancy (Ciancarelli) and Anthony Minichiello died Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Bedford Hills Center following a long illness. Phil is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Manning) Minichiello; his son and daughter in-law Phil Jr. and Kate of Merrimack, NH and their 2 children Andrew and Brielle; his daughter Lydia and son in-law Doug Mayo of Williamsburg, VA and the children of his deceased daughter Marisa, Lilla and Spencer. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Minichiello, Linda Minichiello and Janet Triglione and her husband Art; his sister in-law Kathy Vachon and her husband Robert and his brother in-law Dr. Jim Manning and his wife Debbie. Phil was also a part of a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Graduate of Boston College and Georgetown University School of Dentistry, he earned the status of Fellow from the Academy of General Dentistry and was a lifelong member of the Merrimack Valley Dental Society, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Dental Society. Phil also served for 2 years in the Army Dental Corp. When not practicing dentistry, he was involved in many other activities serving as King Lion for the Haverhill Lions Club, a director on the board of the Haverhill Historical Society and the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce and President of the Wilders Grove Camp Owners Association. The biggest joy of his life was playing his accordion. Starting in 1976 when he accompanied the Italian Children's chorus for the Haverhill Public Library Italian Month Celebration. This month blossomed into a multi-year celebration first with the youth group and as they graduated from school, a switch to the adult group that became known as the Italian Serenaders, which performed festivals from the Merrimack Valley and as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and at the same time he became a member of the NH Accordion Association playing in other venues. VIVA LA MUSICA! Visiting hours will be Friday, November 22, in the Driscoll Funeral Home 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, consider donations in Phil's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation and American Cancer Society. I was reminiscing today about Haverhill and I thought about my dentist, Dr. Minichiello and his family. How you all were so kind to my siblings Tina, Duane and I. Growing up with your children and playing in the house on Summer Street were fond memories, thank you. Sending condolences to the family.
