Legend. I'm here wishing I could find a Dr. Like you for my kids. Its 2025, I'm 37 and you still have an imprint. Was sad to find your obit. But sure happy you lived 95 years. Rest in heaven, sweet dr. As I know whole heartedly that is where you are.

Our deepest sympathy to the McEvoy family. Dr. McEvoy was a wonderful pediatrician to me and our two sons, and a very kind man. I also had the privilege of working as an OB nurse at St. John Hospital and observing what a wonderful doctor he truly was. May he rest in peace and may God give you comfort in your time of sorrow.

I have fond memories of Dr. McEvoy making house calls to our family when I was a child. I even remember when my siblings locked him out of an exam room at his office! He took it all in stride! I was amazed when his wife came to offer condolences when my father passed away. After all these years they still treated us like family! What a wonderful couple they were to have remembered us. Our family will always remember your kindness.~Sincerely, Carolyn Brim~Daughter of Robert & Marjorie Tindal

I am sending my heartfelt sympathies to your family. Dr. McEvoy will always, always hold a special place in my family's hearts! He took care of all 7 of us over the years. I remember TRYING to be calm, while sitting in the waiting room, but KNOWING a shot was in store. However, he always was so kind and would joke and the shot would be over before we knew it! He was a Man among Men. God bless your family, thank you for sharing him with us and I am wishing you so much comfort in your pain. Rest in blessed peace, dear Dr. McEvoy.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your dad. Dr. McEvoy was my pediatrician as well as my 4 brothers. I still remember his office on Warren Road and his bow ties. Later in life I had the pleasure of meeting up with him again when working at St. John and Lakewood Hospitals. Prior to the closing of Lakewood he attended our CME programs. He was a wonderful man. Please extend my sympathies to your mom for me.

I first met Dr. McEvoy as a young girl babysitting.....one of my charges was hospitalized at the old St. John Hospital and I met him while visiting her. He was a gentle soul and a quintessential professional. Years later, when we had our own four children, he was our choice of pediatricians. He would return our frantic "earache" calls in the wee hours of the night, call in a Rx to an all night drugstore, and ask to see us in the morning. They don't make doctors like that anymore. Thank you for sharing your wonderful husband/father with us. Rest in peace, Dr. McEvoy.

My condolences to the McEvoy family. Dr. McEvoy was my doctor for many years during the 70s and 80s. He was always so caring and kind. He was also my mother Jan's employer. She enjoyed working for him and admired him for his knowledge. When my own children were babies and something was wrong, my mother would always say, "Dr. McEvoy says....".
Rest in peace, Dr. McEvoy. Thank you for everything.

What a wonderful man and excellent pediatrician Dr. McEvoy was. I had the privilege of advising Dr. McEvoy for the better part of 25 years. I especially enjoyed helping him gather his tax information, and always seemed to do this right around St. Patrick's Day. He has certainly left a strong impression on me. I will miss him.

I always liked going to see Dr. McEvoy and LOVED reading the Highlights magazines he'd keep stocked in the waiting room! I can remember him letting me hear my heart murmur and always found it fascinating that HE was the first to discover it! He and his nurse were always so nice to my family and me even when my Mom would bring all SEVEN of us kids into that small waiting room!!! Like my brothers, I too fondly remember how nice he smelled and how gentle he was. RIP Dr. McEvoy! You will always be a pleasant childhood memory for me!

I grew up in Lakewood in the 60's and Dr. McEvoy was my first doctor. I was a difficult kid, especially when it came to getting shots, so he gave me the nickname "Smiling Kim". He was a very nice man and a good doctor.

To Anne and family,

My deepest sympathy to the McEvoy family. Dr. McEvoy was such a wonderful Pediatrician. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. McEvoy 29 yrs. ago. My youngest daughter was born with Down Syndrome. His daughter Anne told me to go see her dad. He examined my daughter and reassured me that everything will be fine. After leaving his office I was so thankful for his reassurance and lifting my spirits. May he rest in eternal peace.

Dr. McAvoy saved my life when I was a little girl. He had my dad buy large stalks of bananas at the west side market and those, along with his medical expertise and caring way, allowed my parents to understand celiac way before it's time. I have a picture of "dozens of those bananas" and me hanging in my home today. I remember vividly his visits to our home for check ups and shots. All 6 of us kids would hide under beds, hoping he would not find us! We are all now between 51 and 63 years old. Even today when I pass his Lakewood office, I smile fondly at the memories. Safe journey home Dr. McAvoy. I know you were greeted with open, loving arms.

I loved the way he thumped on your back in that old school way during our checkups back in the seventies. He always smelled nice and had such a pleasing and gentle manor. Requiescat in pace.

McEvoy Family ~

My sincere condolences on your loss of Dr. McEvoy. We were blessed to have him as my two daughter's pediatrician in the 1980's. My Aunt Margie Kehoe was also Mrs. McEvoy's longtime friend. May you all find comfort and peace in wonderful memories.

Dr. McEvoy had the bed-side manner of A Koala Bear. I'll never forget DREADING getting "booster shots" in the rump from him, as A child...I was SUPER squirrelly about the whole process (the Bicentennial/Colonial Soldier wallpaper; the cardboard building blocks; all the squeeking-clicking-ringing, Fisher Price toys in the waiting room did NOTHING to assuage my HORROR of that menacing little needle)...so Dr. McEvoy would say, "OK, young man; I'm gonna do this on the count of three...hold still now...ONE, TWO"...and he'd stick me at number TWO; BEFORE I could squirm outta the WAY!!! Dr. McEvoy took care of ALL SEVEN of us Malloy's; we were one of the SMALL, Irish families...

I am 53 now but your family member was my pediatrician. I remember his smile and his calm way that made me feel at ease. My mother thought the world of him and she was not easy to please. A truly great person and physician.

My prayers and sincere to Anita and Bob's family for the passing of Bob. A good man, husband, father, physician, and Christian. His red hair, Irish wit and smile were always evident. Have known the McEvoy family since many years at St. James. I'm sure God said "welcome Bob my good and faithful servant to the reward I have prepared for you". May he rest in peace. I ask God to bless Anita, Bob's family and friends at this difficult time and give them the courage, love, support, and concern they need.

To the Family of Dr. McEvoy,

I am sorry for your loss and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Dr. McEvoy was my pediatrician as well as my five siblings (ages 43-60 years old). Over the years we have reminisced of the many visits to see Dr. McEvoy. Inevitably we would talk of his kindness, compassion, house calls, bow ties and how when we smell "Old Spice" we always think of him. Thanks for sharing your father with us. He was the best...
