SALEM - Duane Alvin Barton, 88, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2025, in Salem, Ohio.
Duane was born on February 21, 1937, in Calcutta, Ohio, to the late Alvin and Verna M. (Reed) Barton.
A proud graduate of Salem High School, Duane channeled his talent into building a career that reflected his passions. He founded Salem Graphics, a printing and graphic arts company that he dedicated his life to.
Duane’s love for his family was paramount. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Nancy Barton, with whom he shared many wonderful moments. Together, they bought and restored houses in Ohio and Florida, and raised a beautiful and loving family.
Duane was a constant source of support for his children: Gary Barton, Kevan (Christina) Barton, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Barton, and Darrin Barton. His legacy continues to thrive through his grandchildren, Jared Barton, Jeffrey Barton Jr., Darrin Barton Jr., Nick Barton, Dana Sandoval, and Lindsay Barton, and five great-grandchildren with whom he shared countless cherished memories. Duane also loved spending time with his dog, Lilly. He was always enjoying the simple pleasures of life, whether it was a leisurely walk, dedicating time to his career, or creating cherished moments with his family.
In addition to his immediate family, Duane is survived by his sister, Janet Lochead, who was an important part of his life. He is now reunited with his parents and his brothers, Dale, Dave, and Don.
