Duane Cacali Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Devlin Funeral Home - Cranberry Township on Mar. 5, 2026.
Duane Anthony Cacali, devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, brother, professional artist, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 80.

Those who knew Duane appreciated his imagination, inquisitive nature, determination, charm, sense of humor, and quiet strength. He had a gentle, calming presence that made others feel at ease, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born May 29, 1945, to Stephen and Jeannette Cacali, Duane graduated from Hopewell High School (1964). He married his first wife, Maryann Cacali, and started a family. As a young father during the Vietnam era, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University (1998), where he worked for over twenty years as a contract administrator negotiating contracts for the president. In the 1990s, Duane met and then married his second wife, Viera Cacali. The couple built a beautiful home in Cranberry and became active members of their community.

Affectionately nicknamed "Duke," Duane made friends easily wherever he went. He had a lifelong love of architecture and design, and enjoyed creating outdoor landscapes that combined beauty and purpose, transforming backyards into welcoming spaces for both wildlife and family.

Professionally, Duane was known for his creativity, integrity, and dedication. After retiring, he pursued his lifelong passion for art. He launched DC Digital Canvas Art Studio, was a founding member of the Cranberry Artists Network, and he became part of a vibrant creative community. His digital artwork earned multiple awards in both local and international exhibitions.

Duane wrote that "art required courage, perseverance, and faith - and that whatever you create should be your very best work." He lived his life by those words. When he wasn't creating art, he enjoyed nature, animals, and the local car cruises in Cranberry, where he loved talking with fellow enthusiasts.

Duane is survived by his wife of 29 years, Viera Cacali; his daughter, Marilyn Morgan Westner (Alex); his son, Greg Cacali (Amy); his grandchildren, Regan and Tyler; his stepchildren, Todd Sprang (Crystal) and Heidi Sprang; and his brother, Stephen Allan Cacali (Merrianne).

A visitation will be held at Devlin Funeral Home on Friday, April 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 AM at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Duane's spirit through donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), which he supported for more than 15 years.

This is for you Duane we had a great time in High School and spending summer nights cruising old Eat´n park and the times we cruised the beaver river in our boats...I didn´t get chance to say goodbye but believe me I´ll never forget you. R.I.P. Duane......
