In Loving Memory of Duane Hemza

July 14, 1941 – March 22, 2026

Duane Hemza lived life the way it was meant to be lived-outdoors, hands busy, heart full, and always with a smile close by.

He was a man who found joy in every season. In the winter, you could find him on the slopes, carving through fresh snow with friends and family, surrounded by mountain views and laughter. Those days weren't just about skiing-they were about connection, adventure, and making memories that would last a lifetime.

When the snow melted, Duane traded skis for a fishing rod. Whether out on the water or telling stories about "the one that didn't get away," he embraced the calm and excitement of fishing with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything he did. His love for the outdoors was matched only by the joy he found in sharing it with others.

Duane was also a man of skill and dedication. He took pride in his work, whether it was fixing something, building something, or simply lending a helping hand. You could often find him in the driveway or garage, hard at work, solving problems with quiet determination and a steady hand. He didn't just get things done-he did them right.

But above all, Duane will be remembered for his spirit. His laughter, his warmth, and his easygoing nature that made people feel at home. He had a way of turning ordinary days into something special, just by being himself.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children, Deanna and Dirk; his son-in-law, Erik; and his daughter-in-law, Kathleen. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, adventure, and love-a life measured not just in years, but in moments shared, stories told, and smiles given freely.

Though Duane has taken his final journey, his presence remains in the mountains he loved, the waters he fished, and the lives he touched so deeply.

In his honor, take time to get outside, lend a hand, share a laugh, and enjoy the simple moments-because that's exactly how Duane lived.
