Duane E. "Dewey" Kessler

Duane E. "Dewey" Kessler, 85, of Williamsport, passed at home surrounded by family on December 4, 2025.

He was born in Williamsport on February 6, 1940, a son to the late Alfred and Florence Kessler. Following graduation from Williamsport High School, he served in the US Navy from January of 1959 until December of 1962.

Dewey was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the Keystone District Council Carpenter's & Joiners Local, a life member and past president of the Young Men's Republican Club, a life member of the Gesang Verein Harmonia Club, as well as a life member of the Keystone League.

Dewey loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He could always be seen in the stands or on the sidelines at their basketball, soccer, football, and baseball games.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, the former Ann Messersmith, who passed on June 22, 2017.

He is survived by their children, Kevin (Teresa) Kessler of Montoursville, Michael (Christine) Kessler of Boca Raton, FL, and Todd Kessler of Williamsport; grandchildren Brittany (Michael) Strouse, Derek Kessler, Ryan Kessler, Jillian Kessler, and Nathan Kessler; great grandchildren Audrina Kessler and Carley Strouse; as well as brothers Richard Kessler and Ronald Kessler, and sister Patricia Ricci; brother-in-law Michael (Kathy) Messersmith.

A graveside service with Rev. David Bechtel officiating followed by full military honors will be held on December 11, 2025 at 10am at Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville PA.

A celebration of Life will be held the same evening, December 11th at the Young Men's Republican club, Williamsport, beginning at 5 pm.
