Duane Edward Moyer, 89, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at his home with his wife and two sons by his side.
Duane was born July 30, 1935, in Rural Yates Center, KS, the son of Albert Henry and Frances Alberta (Storer) Moyer, the youngest of seven children. He spent his childhood in rural Yates Center and would later relocate to Chanute. He attended Chanute High School, graduating in 1953. Duane married Shirley (Brookshire) Moyer, his wife of 69 years, on December 21, 1954, in Chanute. Together, they would raise two sons and be a strong influence in the lives of their grandchildren.
Duane was a farmer and a tradesman. He would spend over 40 years employed as a Machinist at the Monarch Cement Company. He further perfected his craft as a machinist to help family, friends, and neighbors build parts and find solutions.
Duane was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, finding happiness in teaching them baseball in the front yard and how to bowl. He was an avid bowler all of his life, achieving the rare feat of bowling a perfect 300 game. Duane placed his hope and faith in Christ and enjoyed attending church, where he heard the gospel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Francis; one daughter, Pattie Joann; and his 6 siblings.
