The Lord was ready to take Dudley home on December 3, 2025. His Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, with a visitation two hours before. Fr. Robert Foertsch will officiate the service.
Dudley was born on December 23, 1958, to Lester and Florence (Schauff) Gordon in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was baptized in Foxhome and attended Rothsay School, graduating in 1977.
He started working at 3M in 1978 for 18 years, and he met his future wife, Kathy. In 1988, they welcomed a son, Lester, and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan (to see if the grass was green on the other side, and in fact, it was not). They stayed there for a little over a year and a half before moving back to Wahpeton.
Dudley and Kathy were married in August 1989. In 1991, they welcomed their second son, Daniel. Dudley worked for Cargill for 23 years, finally retiring and enjoying every minute by helping a couple of farmers with planting, harvesting, and other tasks around the farm (he was in his happy place, driving). Dudley would also help his nephew, Paul, at the lake or in Foxhome with mowing or whatever else was needed. He did what he wanted to do.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons, Lester (Nicky Besette) of Wahpeton and Danny Gordon of Colorado; his sisters, Emma Huelsman, Irene (Greg) Gothier, Dorothy (Bob) Chase, and Sylvia Gordon; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Florence Gordon; his sister, Margaret; brothers-in-law, Don Toso and Hank Huelsman; his nephew, Kevin Huelsman; and mother- and father-in-law, Warren and MaryAnn Mohs.
The family would like to say thank you to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge and Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
