Through all walks of life I have met very few people who could live, work and play at Duff's level and still always be so aware and caring of others. His enthusiasm for life, his wit and his smile were uplifting and contagious. Decades ago he gave me a swimming lesson. I remember that lesson every time I swim. His key advice was to "transfer momentum" from one stroke to the next. In college Duff seamlessly transferred his own momentum from class to meditation, workout, studying, friends and other activities. After college Duff used that skill to propel his tireless activity on behalf of the Williams College Alumni Society and so many worthy charities. I will never forget his wit, good humor , compassion, advice or friendship. The world is a better place because of Duff. With my deepest, heartfelt condolences.

Duff was the definition of a good man. He was kind and loving to everyone he met and generous beyond measure. He had a smile and zest for life that lit up the room. He had the ability to make every single person around him feel special and cared for. I will never forget meeting him and Pat. They are the kind of couple you want to be. They were completely smitten with each other and are the measure I hold relationships up to. They lit each other up and in turn they made everything and everyone around them happier and more loving. I can not believe Duff is gone. Heaven is shining brighter with him in it. I will always consider myself blessed to have had Duff in my life and forever grateful to have him in my heart. God bless you Duff. 'May angels sing thee to thy rest.'
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Pat. Thank you both very much for the love and goodness you put in the world.

Duff was a dear friend at Williams. I was a not so productive member of the Swim team, but Duff was always there to encourage my efforts. I loved reconnecting with Duff at our reunion and remember him walking me home after a celebratory evening, just to make sure I arrived safely to my mom's house. I will always remember his warm smile, exuberant personality and his wonderful friendship. I will miss him. My heartfelt love goes to his family.
With sadness,

I knew Duff at Williams College back in the 1970's. He was my "Junior Advisor," a residential advisor position that was a high honor at Williams (an unpaid position that one applied for). Duff was actually President of the Junior Advisors, which was an exceptional honor. And he was perfect for the role, friendly, thoughtful, considerate, quick with a smile, very supportive. I wish I had kept up with him over the years. My heartfelt thoughts to his family at this difficult time, and I will keep very fond memories of Duff.
