Duke Stanley "Stan" McCandlish, Jr.

 

Duke Stanley "Stan" McCandlish, Jr., known for his unwavering love for his family and tremendous enthusiasm for his children, passed away on December 10, 2023. He was a caring father, a dedicated best friend to his wife, and strong, loyal man. Stan was born on June 21, 1966, in West Monroe, Louisiana. The impact he had on the lives he touched will forever resonate in their hearts.

Stan's professional journey spanned over two decades in the foodservice industry. With determination and skill, he excelled as a sales manager, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he worked with. His commitment to excellence was evident in all aspects of his life.

However, it was in the role of father that Stan found the greatest joy. Whether it was cheering passionately from the sidelines or providing guidance and support to his children, he embraced every moment with unbridled enthusiasm. Stan took immense pride in being their number one fan and biggest cheerleader. His unwavering love and dedication were evident to anyone who witnessed him in action.

Beyond his immediate family, Stan's impact extended far and wide. He developed deep friendships during his years working in the food service industry, forging connections that transcended professional boundaries. The camaraderie he shared with colleagues turned into lifelong bonds built on trust and mutual respect.

Stan touched the lives of those closest to him and extended to relatives, friends, and numerous others fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. He was a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown belt and amazing cook. Sharing his passions through his tough exterior was unique to him and made everyone around him feel valued and loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife of thirteen years, Camille McCandlish of Bryant Arkansas; his children: Chael McCandlish of Bryant Arkansas, Presley McCandlish of Bryant Arkansas, Kaine Dalton of Bryant Arkansas, and Taylor McCandlish of Oklahoma. Stan is also survived by his mother, Peggy McNair and husband James of Marion of Louisiana; and his sister, Julie Goodman and husband Stoney of Farmerville, Louisiana. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, including his mother and father-in-law, James and Rhanda Wright of Smackover, Arkansas; sister-in-law Cristen Woods and husband Ross of El Dorado, Arkansas; and brother-in-law Jamie Wright and wife Melanie of Kaufman Texas.

In addition to his immediate and extended family, Stan leaves behind friends who were more like brothers to him: Will Dupriest, Brad Bilton, David Hartt, Stafford Long, and Dub Howard. Their bond transcended friendship as they navigated life together through both triumphs and challenges.

The services to celebrate Stan's remarkable life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023. The visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Benton in Benton, Arkansas. A memorial service will follow at the same location at 2:00 PM.

Stan's legacy will be forever cherished by all whose lives he touched.  Though he may no longer walk among us physically, his spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
