In Loving Memory of Mr. Durward Belmont Rainer

July 18, 1926 – October 28, 2025

One remarkable life - ninety-nine extraordinary years.

D.B. Rainer, of Union, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on October 28, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on July 18, 1926, he lived a long and beautiful life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.

He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Lois Smith Rainer, for 67 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong foundation rooted in love and faith, raising two sons and watching their family grow to include six grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was the rock of his family - a man of calm strength, steadfast faith, and quiet leadership, whose love and guidance shaped generations.

A proud native of Beulah Hubbard, Mississippi, he graduated from Beulah Hubbard High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. After returning home from Europe, he began his career with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and later founded Union Asphalt and Paving, where his dedication and integrity built a lasting legacy.

He was a man of faith who served as a deacon at County Line Baptist Church for many years. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Union, where he continued to walk faithfully with the Lord he loved so deeply.

He witnessed nearly a century of change - from growing up in a two-room home with no electricity to scrolling through his iPhone on the morning before he passed. Through it all, he remained grounded in gratitude, faith, and family.

Even in his later years, he found joy in the simple things: tending his garden, mowing the grass, and taking his golf cart around town - especially after his family decided he no longer needed his truck keys. Just a few months ago, at 99 years old, he was still out cutting grass.

He cherished a special friendship with Mr. Jack Rhea Tannehill, and the two could often be found riding their golf carts together, visiting with neighbors and sharing stories with everyone they met.

He was the embodiment of what it means to be a family man - humble, loyal, kind, and unwavering in faith. His loved ones were blessed beyond measure to share 99 extraordinary years with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bessie Rainer; his beloved wife, Dorothy Lois Smith Rainer; brothers, Adrain and Donald Rainer; and sister, Evelyn Rainer Harrison.

He is survived by his sons Rev. Ronnie Rainer (Debby) and Terry Rainer (Velma); grandchildren Sallye Ann Rainer Miley, Hali Rainer, Dr. Ryan Rainer (Betsy), Dr. Clay Rainer (Mendolyn), Holly Rainer Vinson (Michael), and Robyn Rainer Green (Rev. David); great-grandchildren Bella Miley, Ann-Hadli Ezell, Dru Rainer, Leighton Richard, Virginia, Suzanne, and David Rainer, Olivia Moore, William, Jack, Henry, and Kate Rainer, Caroline, Luke, John, Daniel, and Miriam Vinson, Bo Belmont and Bridgette Green; sister Betty Rainer Jackson; former grandson-in-law Brent Miley; and sister-in-laws Joyce Rainer and Carolyn Haas (Bill), along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved him dearly.

A man of quiet strength, deep faith, and boundless love - his presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
