Dustin Allen Cox departed from this world on November 7, 2025, at the age of 43. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico on March 2, 1982, Dustin's vibrant spirit and compassionate soul came to a rest in
Odessa, Texas. Dustin's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to those he loved and the communities he served. A graduate of high school in Kerrville, Texas, he embarked on a lifelong journey of care and service as a certified nurse's aide from the year 2000. Throughout his career, Dustin worked doing what he loved most throughout the Permian Basin, not only providing medical assistance but also working in transportation and central supply departments. His commitment to helping others was particularly evident during the Covid pandemic.
Dustin lived out his Christian faith through his actions, embodying the principles of love and charity every day. His generosity of spirit was boundless, and he was often the first to offer help to anyone in need. Dustin's capacity for kindness was matched only by his sense of humor and his love for bringing joy to others. He enjoyed playing pranks, or simply sharing a laugh, his presence was a source of light and happiness. He enjoyed getting dressed and going out to participate in Drag Shows. Dustin's creative talents knew no bounds. He was an avid thrift shopper, always on the lookout for unique items to enhance his home's decor. Inspired by his father, Michael Dean Cox, also known as "Eskimo," who predeceased him, Dustin learned to play the guitar. His musical abilities also extended to the harmonica and piano, His artistic nature found expression not only in music but also in the way he lived his life-full of color, and always demonstrating his creativity, and love. Family was the cornerstone of Dustin's world.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Nancy Cox, with whom he shared an inseparable bond, caring for her throughout his life. His brothers, Michael Cox and TJ Cox, along with his sister-in-law Lori Cox, wife to TJ, and his nieces, Michaels three daughters: Kinsley, Haelyn, and Hilton Cox, will forever cherish the memories of their beloved Dustin. His stepfather, Jimmy Riley. His cousin, Christina Lee, who tenderly cared for him during his final days, also survived him.
Dustin's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many loved family members and friends whose lives he touched with his selfless and generous nature. The stories shared as loved ones gathered to say their final goodbye to Dustin, painted a vivid picture of a person who made a profound impact on those around him. Each story highlighted how Dustin provided care and support during the most challenging times, always with positivity and encouragement. His favorite films, "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock and "Sister Act," were a testament to his eclectic taste and love for artistry. Dustin Allen Cox will be remembered as the embodiment of joy, selflessness, and generosity. His legacy of laughter, care, and creative spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. As we honor his memory, we take solace in knowing that Dustin's life was a beautiful melody, composed of countless moments of kindness, shared with the world he loved so dearly.
Visitation will begin Thursday November 13, 2025, at 9am. A funeral service to follow at 5pm and will be officiated by Mike Bartlett.
