Dustin Mertz Obituary
Dustin Thomas Mertz, 30, of Texas, formerly of Charlotte and Mt. Holly, NC departed this life on December 27, 2022. Dustin was born in Charlotte, NC and lived mostly in Gaston County, NC until he moved to Texas 10 years ago. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Mertz.
Dustin is survived by his children, Grayson Thomas Mertz (son of Megan Burgess), Bentlee Tomas Mertz (son of Krista Scholl), and Kenli (daughter of Alexis); mother, Janet Mertz Royal; aunts, Donna Bedenbaugh and Veronica Mertz; uncle and aunt, Mike and Cindy Mertz; cousins, Katie and John Bedenbaugh; and beloved guardian, Eva Killman Cooper and family.
Dustin loved Jesus, his family, and friends. He never met a stranger. He will be missed by those who loved him. He is now free of the torment he battled during his young life.
A memorial service to celebrate Dustin's life will be held on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gastonia Street Ministry, PO Box 853, Gastonia, NC 28053 or you may bring to the memorial service.
